Entrant Framing & Hanging Guidelines |
Please remember the
guidelines are to prevent damage to the artwork and to
present the artwork in an appealing way. |
These are some of the
methods we do not recommend: |
• Tape and some hot glue do
not hold up in the heat and humidity. |
• Shrink-wrap shrinks in the
heat, causing the work to buckle and fall. |
• Glass will break if not
wired properly. |
• Saw tooth hangers do not
work with our hanging system. |
The best way to hang
artwork is detailed in the guidelines for Adult
Entrants. To make the cost more reasonable for our young
Entrants, these are a couple of other options. |
OPTION A: |
Framed and wired in a
professional manner as shown in the adult guidelines.
Wires must be one-third of the way down the frame, tight
across, and wrapped at each end so the wire will not
slide. |
OPTION B: |
Framed in a poster frame
found in most stores such as Wal-Mart. These frames come
with a built-in hanger on the back. Some come with wire
kits. Both are acceptable. If using the wire kit, follow
the wiring guidelines in the adult section. Cost is
between $4 and $20 depending on size. |
OPTION C: |
Matted and shrink-wrapped
around foam core. Although this is standard in most high
schools, it has not proven successful in the heat and
humidity. The recommended thickness for the foam core is
1/4" - 1/2" thick. This will prevent buckling. An
alternative to tape is to use small screw eyes into the
foam core, then wire. If accepted, any artwork that
falls or buckles will be taken down and not re-hung. |
